Standard GBparts and GB_superparts

We have defined a total of 11 basic GB standard parts with defined prefix and suffix (4nt complementary overhangs) that ensure their correct assembly.

In addition to these pre-defined GBparts - or “words” - the GB basic vocabulary also contains pre-arranged GB_Superparts (GBSpart) – or “phrases” - , e.g., the pre-arranged “phrase” A1-A2-A3-B1-B2 (PRO+5U) is a standard GBSpart made of 5 GB basic parts (A1, A2, A3, B1, & B2) comprising a promoter, a 5’-UTR, and the ATG codon.

All standard GBparts and GBSparts are depicted in the figure below.

To domesticate your sequence adequately, you should select the type of GBpart or GBSpart that defines it from the drop-down menu.

If you wish to create your own custom-defined (non-standard) GBpart or GBSpart then leave the “Choose a category to domesticate to:” field empty and write down the prefix and suffix (4nt overhang) you wish for your custom GBpart.
